The Salem Family YMCA is off Lynchburg Turnpike and beside the Salem municipal water tower, a visible landmark. From I-81, take the Rt. 419 (Electric Road) exit and head south to the intersection with Lynchburg Turnpike. Turn right and look for the YMCA ahead on your left.

Monthly bank draft is available through regular withdrawals from your checking, savings, VISA or MasterCard account.
Each member is issued a YMCA ID card.� Please have your card ready to scan when entering the facility.� If your ID card is not available, a photo ID is required to use the facility.
The YMCA is a membership organization. To best serve our members, our guest policy is:
- Adults $15 daily
- Children (12 & under)$8 daily
A parent or guardian must accompany children under the age of 13. A sibling age 16 or older may act as guardian at the facility for their sibling, with written permission from the parent.
The Salem Family YMCA provides activities and supervision for members ages infant to 12 while their parents participate in other activities at our facility.Child Watch providers promote caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in a safe, friendly environment.�
Child Watch Hours of Operation:
- Monday through Friday: 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- Saturday: 8 a.m. to Noon
- Sunday: 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

To better serve our members, we offer the following definitions for membership purposes:
Household Membership
Any two adult persons living together in the same household, and their children age 19 years and under can join as one membership unit. Children up to age 24 may be on household membership only if a full time college student. Proof of college schedule must be provided (12 or more credit hours). Additional adults in the household may be added for a $25.00 fee per adult. Limit of 4 (four) adults per household. Picture ID with proof of address must be provided.
Senior: Anyone who is 62 years or older qualifies for a 50 percent discount on the joining fee.
Full-time college student: A student must carry a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester and provide proof of enrollment to qualify for this special rate.
Teen Centers at Kirk Family YMCA and Salem Family YMCA are available to all teenagers who are current members of the YMCA of Roanoke Valley. The centers provide a hangout spot and will host motivational speakers, YMCA teen programming and activities and much more. All students ages 10-18 are encouraged to take part in programs and activities of the center through a YMCA family membership or the teen individual membership. Teen Center Features:
