Salem Sprint Triathlon Raises $10,000 for Y Partners

The Salem Sprint Triathlon hosted by the Salem Family YMCA on Sunday, June 3 was a huge success.  More than 230 seasoned athletes and newcomers, ranging in age from 11 to 74, came out to swim 300 yards, bike 15k and run 5k. Armistead Legge of Winchester Virginia ranked first place overall, finishing the race in 47:41 Blacksburg High School took home the high school cup. 

The event is event is more than just a time to showcase athleticism.  The Salem Sprint Triathlon helps support the YMCA of Roanoke Valley’s Y Partners campaign Y Partners helps ensure that our doors are open to everyone in our community, regardless of their ability to pay. Thanks in part to the athletes who participated in the Salem Sprint Triathlon, we’ve given up to $1.2 million in financial assistance to more than 6,500 men, women and children.
