Training and Leadership

Leader Clubs help develop teens ages 13 to 18 as leaders while fostering a culture of service. With adult advisors, teens have role models and mentors who can have a positive impct on their lives as they grow in their desire and ability to be a positive force in the community.

Teen Camp Volunteers

Location: YMCA Express at Gainsboro
Ages: 13-18

YMCA Leaders’ Club provides teens ages 13-18 with knowledge, training, communication skills and valuable team-building experience through volunteering in Y programs and the community. YMCA Leaders’ Club trains teens to better serve their community and the Y as they encourage each other to make a positive impact for present and future generations. Qualifying leaders may participate in Blue Ridge Leaders’ School, a week-long school held in June that is run by the South Field YMCAs with a main focus on fitness and leadership development.  Each participant in the YMCA Teen Leaders’ program completes a minimum of fifty hours of volunteer work, both in the YMCA and our community.  The YMCA Teen Leaders’ Club is run for teens, by teens, with guidance provided by adult YMCA leadership.  Club meetings are held each week beginning in the Fall and culminating in June each year.  Annual registration is conducted in August/September each year.
